About memory, language, music, and the country we carry within us.
On August 24, we invite you to celebrate Independence Day together — in Skhidnytsia, among the mountains, surrounded by loved ones, with Ukrainian music, live meetings, and meanings that feel especially sharp right now.
The main event of the day is a concert by the band “Pyrih i Batih” (@pyrigbatig)
This is a project that brings Ukrainian poetry back to life through sound. The band works with the words of legendary figures: Bohdan-Ihor Antonych, Vasyl Stus, Mykola Zerov, Pavlo Tychyna, Yevhen Pluzhnyk, Mykola Voronyi, and other Ukrainian authors — making poetry something you want to listen to today.
In 2024, their song “Hai shumliat” (“The Groves Are Rustling”), based on the words of Pavlo Tychyna, gained new popular recognition decades later. That same year, the band released the first part of the triptych “Zamordovani. Podzvin pershyi” (“The Murdered. The First Toll”) — an album with texts by Ukrainian artists destroyed by the Soviet regime. And the collection “Koliadnytskyi,” featuring 12 carols from different regions of Ukraine, once again showed how diverse and alive our sound can be.
“Pyrih i Batih” have performed in Ukraine and abroad: from small local communities and de-occupied villages to the grand stages of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, the Lviv Philharmonic, and the ICCM in Kyiv.
That is why we wanted them to be the ones performing at Crona Hotel & Spa on Independence Day.
The day’s program includes:
• a concert by the band “Pyrih i Batih”
• children’s activities and creative workshops
• an open-air cinema
• traditionally impressive photo zones
• BBQ and dishes of modern Ukrainian cuisine
• a charity component of the event
Evening hosts: Volodymyr Zhohlo and Mariia Stokolias
We will gather to listen and sing familiar lines, to be together with those close to us, to watch a film under the open sky, and to remember how children laugh, how the evening grows warmer, and how good it feels when your own people are nearby.
